========================================================================= MAXIM-X CHARGING CIRCUIT TEST ========================================================================= To test the charging circuit, use a multimeter switched to an appropriate DC voltage range. Just hold the red lead on the positive battery post and the black lead on ground - a good one of course is the negative battery post. Check the voltage with the ignition OFF first to verify the state of the battery. You should see 12 to 13 volts. Then start the bike and check it at idle. If your idle is at or below 1050rpm, you're likely to see less than 12 volts because the Maxim-X A/C generator doesn't provide enough voltage at that rpm to compensate for what's being drawn away by the ignition system and the various lights. If your idle is around 1150rpm or higher, that's where you should start to see more voltage than you read with the ignition off. In fact, for that very reason, it's a good idea to keep the Maxim-X idle speed above 1150rpm. Lastly, slowly increase the rpms from idle while watching the meter. You should see the meter climb to 14 volts smoothly and in a very short time. The needle shouldn't bounce around and 14 volts should be achieved almost immediately after you start increasing the rpms from idle. =========================================================================
